THE WALKING DEAD’S LAURIE HOLDEN JOINS CAST OF PYEWACKET FROM BACKCOUNTRY DIRECTOR ADAM MACDONALD

Filmmaker’s Second Feature Film Starts Principal Photography in Sault Ste. Marie

Toronto, Montreal – October 25, 2016 – Entertainment One and boutique sales outfit Seville International are pleased to announce that writer/director Adam MacDonald’s second feature film PYEWACKET is set to begin production on October 26, 2016 in Sault Ste. Marie, in Canada’s scenic Northern Ontario region. The occult horror film stars Laurie Holden (from TV’s “The Walking Dead”), Nicole Muñoz, Chloe Rose, Eric Osborne and James McGowan.

PYEWACKET follows the story of Leah (Muñoz), a teenage girl who is forced to move to a house in the woods by her unstable mother (Holden) after the painful passing of her father. Feeling trapped and hopeless, Leah turns to Black Magic to release her anger. She naively performs an occult ritual found in a book on her bedroom shelf to evoke the spirit of a witch to kill her mother. Stricken by guilt, Leah desperately tries to reverse the spell, but soon realizes she has awoken something in the woods. Nothing can prepare Leah for the terror she has unleashed.

Lee Malia, the guitarist from Bring Me the Horizon, will be composing an original score for the film. Jonathan Bronfman (The Witch, Two Lovers and a Bear) and Victoria Sanchez-Mandryk (Wait Till Helen Comes) offer their horror expertise as the film’s producers, with Jeff Sackman, Casey Walker and Joe Sisto on-board as executive producers.

We are thrilled to join forces with the talented team behind Pyewacket. Adam is a masterful director and has demonstrated, through his work on Backcountry, that he can create the right mood to bring this story to life. We are looking forward to sharing this chilling horror film with our partners around the world,” said Anick Poirier, SVP, International Sales, Seville International.

Seville International is handling international sales of the film in all media around the world, with the exception of the US, where the film is being jointly handled with the producers. Entertainment One and Les Films Séville will directly distribute the film throughout Canada and Québec. Pyewacket is produced by JoBro Productions and Just Believe Productions, in association with Cave Painting Pictures and Tajj Media.
