Rawson Marshall Thurber To Spearhead Flagship ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ TV Series For eOne
eOne has closed a deal for writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber to creatively oversee a flagship, one-hour television series based on the universe of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), Hasbro’s wildly-popular game franchise from Wizards of the Coast. Thurber will write and direct the pilot script as well as executive produce the project.
Dungeons & Dragons® is a leading fantasy entertainment franchise, fueled by the imagination of storytellers around the world. More than 50 million fans have played D&D since it was first published 46 years ago, including videogames and livestream entertainment on Twitch and YouTube. eOne’s film unit recently finished production on the untitled feature film that is being jointly produced and financed with Paramount. eOne will distribute in the UK and Canada and Paramount in the rest of world.
Thurber most recently wrote, produced and directed RED NOTICE for Netflix, the streamer’s most-watched film of all time, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. His other credits include directing and writing CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE, directing WE’RE THE MILLERS, and writing and directing DODGEBALL: A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY. He is represented by WME, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.
