ENTERTAINMENT ONE TAPS MUSIC INDUSTRY VET TODD C. ROBERTS AS VP, A&R MUSIC PUBLISHING
Roberts to head West Coast publishing initiatives for growing music division
(December 3, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA) - Entertainment One (“eOne”) today announces the hiring of music industry veteran Todd C. Roberts as VP, A&R Music Publishing, effective immediately. While Roberts’ main focus will be the Company’s efforts in the music publishing area, eOne will also leverage Roberts’ experience in the recording, branding and management areas. Roberts will be based in the Company’s Los Angeles office, reporting to Chris Taylor, eOne’s Global President of Music.
Roberts brings to eOne more than 20 years of experience from across the music industry. He spent the last decade cultivating talent as an artist manager including a stint at C3 Management, working with artists Bassnectar and Griz. He also worked independently with artist/producer Nosaj Thing, for whom he orchestrated collaborations with artists like Kid Cudi, The xx, Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar.
Additionally, he executive produced several record projects including the Grammy-nominated series Verve Remixed and a forthcoming Beatle’s covers project. In the early part of his career, Roberts was editor of Urb Magazine, which led to a role as VP A&R at Virgin Records and Astralwerks, where he worked with seminal acts like Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, Phoenix and Air.
Taylor says “At eOne, I am very focused on finding the future sounds and working with executive talent that can help nurture it and build a plan to the biggest stages in the world. Todd has demonstrated an ability to deliver at a very high level throughout his entire career. Artists, songwriters and producers that have been privileged to work with him know he’s a select talent who combines business-acumen with creative that leads to greatness.”
Roberts comments, “For a long time, I’ve sought to be part of a company looking toward the future, one that can truly collaborate in helping artists thrive and exceed their goals. In every role, my goal has been to create a fertile environment for the next gen music economy. I think eOne is uniquely positioned to be that company. I’ve followed Chris Taylor’s career for a while and witnessed him forge a trail with his own artists. Now, at eOne, he has outlined a vision for a meaningfully integrated team that can allow artists, producers and writers to succeed and flourish in their creative pursuits.”
eOne has been making big moves since Taylor’s arrival in 2016 bringing in management clients Jax Jones, The Black Madonna and Badbadnotgood as well expanding the division’s publishing division; entering into a publishing joint venture agreement with LA-based, Grammy winning producer/writer team, Stereotypes in August 2018. The label side has experienced successes with releases from the Lumineers and Latin act, Bryant Myers.
eOne’s current music publishing catalogue includes songs from the Death Row Records catalogue, hard rock/metal artists, including Within the Ruins and The Contortionist, hip hop producers Vinny X and Tre Mission, The Stereotypes’ RaCharm as well as a vast catalogue of film and television audiovisual rights for properties including Designated Survivor, Peppa Pig and PJ Masks. eOne also handles the publishing administration rights to the Chuck Berry catalogue (via eOne imprint, Dualtone Music Group).
