ENTERTAINMENT ONE SECURES FIRST LOOK CO–FINANCING AND INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH TOOLEY PRODUCTIONS
Deal to deliver high quality feature films with international appeal to eOne’s global distribution network
Toronto/Los Angeles – September 9, 2016 – Furthering its commitment to forging high quality creative partnerships, global independent studio Entertainment One (eOne) today announced that it has entered into a first look co-financing and international distribution deal for feature films with Tucker Tooley under his film and television production company Tooley Productions.
Tooley will leverage his significant industry expertise to develop premium films to be co-financed and produced with eOne. eOne will exclusively manage distribution rights to Tooley projects in the UK, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain. Additionally, as part of eOne’s partnership with Sierra Pictures, the international sales and servicing of films produced under the relationship will be managed by Sierra/Affinity outside of territories where eOne directly distributes.
“We are delighted to be working with Tucker, whose deep industry relationships and creative instincts make him a standout partner for us,” said Steve Bertram, President, Global Film Group, Entertainment One. “We are very excited to join forces to develop, finance and produce films with strong global appeal.”
“eOne is an ideal partner, and I have the highest regard for the leadership team,” commented Tooley, CEO of Tooley Productions. “The company has an impressive global platform, and I’m excited to partner with them to develop and bring outstanding material to the screen.”
Current Tooley Productions’ projects include 6 Below, a Scott Waugh modern prodigal son thriller based on the unbelievable true story of former Olympic hockey player Eric LeMarque who gets lost snowboarding in a massive storm, Hunter Killer starring Gerard Butler with Millennium Films and Original Film, and Den of Thieves, also starring Butler, with STX.
Most recently, Tooley served as President of Relativity Studios. Under his leadership, the company’s slate of films earned more than $1.2 billion at the domestic box office and brought in numerous Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominations. While at Relativity Studios, Tooley executive produced David O. Russell’s The Fighter, which earned seven Oscar nominations and won two. Additional producer/executive producer credits include Neil Burger’s Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper; Dear John, starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried; Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven and Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire. Tooley also produced the 2013 summer box office hit We’re the Millers for Warner Bros., which grossed $270 million worldwide.
eOne’s first look deal with Tooley Productions builds on the company’s strong network of acclaimed and respected partners. In January 2015, eOne and The Mark Gordon Company teamed to create an independent studio to finance and produce premium film, network, cable and digital content by Gordon and other producers. In December 2015, eOne formed content creation company Amblin Partners with Steven Spielberg, Participant Media and Reliance Entertainment.
Tooley was represented by WME Global in the deal.
