Entertainment One Films International announces strong round of sales at TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Toronto / London – SEPTEMBER 18, 2012 – Entertainment One Films International (“eOne”) today announced a strong round of sales at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival for the upcoming film The F Word, starring the widely-popular Daniel Radcliffe as well as for film Song for Marion, which had its World Premiere as the Closing Night Gala film at the festival.

From acclaimed director Mike Dowse (Take Me Home Tonight, Fubar, Goon), writer Elan Mastai (The Samaritan), executive-producer Jesse Shapira (Goon), and producer David Gross (Goon), The F Word stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter franchise, The Woman in Black) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks, It’s Complicated, Revolutionary Road). The F Word is a refreshing, insightful comedic look at the premise of whether a boy and a girl can just be friends.
The F Word was successfully secured for Germany (Telepool), Russia (Carmen), Latin America (Sun Distribution), Benelux (eOne), Turkey (Mars Concept), Middle East (Frontrow) and India (Pictureworks). As previously announced, the film was sold to and is being released by eOne in Canada and the UK.
Locking up sales for most of the world, eOne also had fantastic success with Song for Marion. The festival saw the group firm up sales for remaining territories including, Italy (Lucky Red), South Africa (Videovision) and South Korea (United Entertainment Korea). The team is also closing a deal for Scandinavia.
Directed by the talented and versatile, Paul Andrew Williams, and starring Terence Stamp, Vanessa Redgrave, Gemma Arterton, Christopher Eccleston, the London-set comedic drama is about a shy, grumpy 72-year old who gets more than he bargains for when he joins an unconventional choir. At odds with his son and trying to resist the persuasive choir director, he is a reluctant late bloomer who learns to love life again.
As announced earlier, Song for Marion has been successfully sold to the US (The Weinstein Company), the UK (eOne), Australia (eOne/Hopscotch), Japan (Asmik Ace Entertainment), Germany (Ascot Elite & ARD), Spain (Vertigo), Benelux (Cineart), Greece and Cyprus (Filmtrade), Turkey (Calinos), Poland (Hagi Film), Hungary (Budapest Film), France (Haut et Court), Iceland (Green Light Films), Airlines (Jaguar), Latin America (Sun Distribution) and Israel (Shani Films).
eOne is also very pleased to announce that Canadian film The Secret Disco Revolution was sold to Japan (Kadokawa) and serious discussions are currently underway for the US. Similarly, both Home Again from director Sudz Sutherland, as well as The Lesser Blessed, starring Benjamin Bratt are being actively sought for the US.
In addition to penning sales during the festival for Turkey (Bir Film) and Greece (Strada Films), the team had significant presales for Inch’Allah, the new film from the acclaimed Incendies producers Luc Dery and Kim McCraw. Presales included Benelux (Cineart), Brazil (Imovision), France (Happiness), Hong Kong (Edko Films Ltd.) Middle East (Front Row), Portugal (Lusomundo), South Korea (Aud), Spain (Golem Distribucion), Switzerland (Agora Films) and Taiwan (Joint Entertainment International Inc).
