Joining previously announced series leads Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber are Thomas Antony Olajide, Edward Ruttle, Husein Madhavji, Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves, Rodrigo Massa, Kaitlyn Leeb, and Adam Hurtig

Created by award-winning executive producer Alan McCullough and produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Buffalo Gal Pictures, principal photography is currently underway in Winnipeg

August 9, 2022 – eOne and CTV, together with Buffalo Gal Pictures, revealed today additional casting details for the upcoming CTV Original procedural series, The Spencer Sisters (10x60). Lea Thompson (BACK TO THE FUTURE, CAROLINE IN THE CITY) and Stacey Farber (VIRGIN RIVER, SCHITT’S CREEK) lead the 10-episode one-hour drama, with principal photography currently underway in Winnipeg, Manitoba. April Mullen (TINY PRETTY THINGS, THE ROOKIE, BELOW HER MOUTH) is directing the first two episodes.

Joining the cast are Thomas Antony Olajide, Edward Ruttle, Husein Madhavji, Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves, Rodrigo Massa, Kaitlyn Leeb, and Adam Hurtig in recurring roles.

Created by Alan McCullough (PRIVATE EYES, ROOKIE BLUE) and executive produced and co-showrun by McCullough and Jenn Engels (SORT OF), the series centres on a hot-headed former police officer Darby Spencer (Farber) and her estranged, internationally renowned, mystery novelist mother, Victoria Spencer (Thompson). Despite opposite personalities, differing sensibilities, and a complicated history, they embark on the unlikeliest of ventures: becoming partners in a private detective agency.

Thomas Antony Olajide will recur as Zane Graham, Darby’s oldest friend and closest confidant. He followed Darby to the police academy but opted to return to their hometown instead of the big city and now finds himself in the difficult position of breaking the rules when Darby and Victoria come to him for help. Recognized as one of TIFF’s 2021 Rising Stars, Olajide is an actor and playwright who has been nominated for two-time Dora Mavor Moore awards and a Canadian Screen Award, for his most recent performance in Thyrone Tommy’s debut feature film LEARN TO SWIM.

Edward Ruttle will recur as Dr. Lucas Collins, Alder Bluffs’ dashing ER doctor and Darby’s former high school sweetheart. Best known for playing the recurring role of Tommy Pembroke in CBC’s ARCTIC AIR, he was most recently seen in the indie feature BROKEN DIAMONDS starring Ben Platt.

Husein Madhavji will recur as Alastair Dhumal, a tech consultant with a mysterious past and friend of Victoria’s who has also secretly developed feelings for her. Madhavji played Dr. Shahir Hamza for five seasons on SAVING HOPE, and can currently be seen in the acclaimed Netflix film DONKEYHEAD, in STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS on Paramount+, and heard on Disney’s animated kids series MIRA, ROYAL DETECTIVE.

Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves will recur as Sarita Stark, a senior agent at one of the foremost literary agencies in the country who’s eager to find new ways to keep Victoria at the top of the bestseller lists for as long as she can. Mansur Gonsalves recently played recurring roles in FX’s Y: THE LAST MAN, Nat Geo’s THE HOT ZONE, and is set to recur in the upcoming second season of HBO Max/CBC Gem’s award-winning comedy, SORT OF.

Rodrigo Massa will recur as Christian Pereira, Zane’s husband who owns the Brazilian bistro that serves as a second “home base” for Darby and Victoria. Born and raised in Brazil, Massa is an actor, singer and TV host who will be seen in Lifetime’s upcoming MERRY TEXTMAS, as well as Eli Roth’s URBAN LEGENDS, coming to Discovery+ worldwide.

Kaitlyn Leeb will recur as Lindsay Yip, a bubbly and ambitious corporate lawyer – and Lucas’ fiancée. Leeb’s breakout role was in the 2012 feature film reboot of TOTAL RECALL alongside Colin Farrell, and most recently has been seen in Lifetime’s THE FALLEN ANGELS BOOK CLUB as Det. Monica Lincoln.

Adam Hurtig will recur as Detective Toby Harris, Zane’s overly-critical but slightly inept boss. Things start to get touchy when Darby and Victoria open up shop and start solving cases right under his nose. Hurtig was most recently seen on CBC’s THE PORTER and THE ICE ROAD alongside Liam Neeson.
