ENTERTAINMENT ONE AND ATMOSPHERE ENTERTAINMENT
PARTNER ON EPIC DRAMA SERIES KING DAVID
Los Angeles – December 10, 2013 – Entertainment One Television (eOne) has teamed up with Atmosphere Entertainment to develop and produce the epic one-hour drama series King David, written by Patrick Moss and Jeremy Anderson. The show will be executive produced by eOne’s John Morayniss (Klondike, Haven), CEO eOne Television, and Michael Rosenberg (Klondike, Hung), EVP US Scripted Television, and Atmosphere Entertainment’s Mark Canton (Power, 300, IMMORTALS, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE). Atmosphere’s David Hopwood and Matthew Einstein will serve as co-executive producers.
An epic mafia show in biblical clothing, King David pulls the man out of scripture and brings to life the full, contradictory character of the greatest warrior-king and patriarch in the bible – a man who must make monstrous choices that betray his personal ideals and turn his family against him. Over the past year, Moss and Anderson have worked closely with Atmosphere to develop the series, building it upon extensive historical research and in-depth analysis from experts around the world.
“We are excited to bring the layered and fascinating legend of King David to life. The series will expose the complex humanity of one of history’s greatest icons, and deliver gripping drama with colossal stakes,” said eOne’s Rosenberg. “We have found great partners in Mark and his team at Atmosphere to produce a larger-than-life show with themes and stories that will captivate audiences.”
“Over the years I’ve had a penchant for developing cutting edge dramatic properties with historical roots and broad audience appeal,” said Canton from the set of Starz’ Power which is filming in New York City. “King David fits that bill and there are no better team mates than John, Michael and their colleagues at eOne to bring the series to the global arena.”
Moss and Anderson recently sold Legacy, a modern-day twist on the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations, to ABC. Moss’ credits also include The Unit.
Moss and Anderson are represented by Seth Nagel at Code Entertainment and Katie Cates at Resolution. Canton is represented by Jacob A. Bloom and Leigh Brecheen of Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette Feldman Shenkman & Goodman.
eOne will handle worldwide distribution for the series.
eOne develops, produces, acquires and distributes programming across all genres. eOne handles international distribution for original scripted series from AMC (including upcoming dramas Turn and Halt & Catch Fire) and Sundance Channel (including upcoming series The Red Road).
