Entertainment One Acquires North American rights to Brian De Palma thriller Passion

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO – September 28, 2012 – Entertainment One (“eOne”) is pleased to announce that it has acquired the North American distribution rights to Passion in all media from SBS Productions. Passion premiered in Competition at this year’s Venice International Film Festival and was a major attraction at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

From screenwriter/director Brian De Palma (The Black Dahlia, The Untouchables, Scarface), Passion stars leading-actress Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Wedding Crashers) and the talented Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo).

Based on the 2010 French thriller Love Crime, Passion tells the enthralling story of a deadly power struggle between two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business.

“We’re delighted to add Passion to the 2013 domestic slate. Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace performances are captivating and De Palma delivers another great thriller that audiences have already embraced at Venice and Toronto,” said David Reckziegel, President, eOne Films North America.

“It’s certainly been an exciting and successful freshman year for our growing US theatrical team and we look forward to the upcoming year and continuing to bring the highest quality independent films with premium talent to the US market,” Reckziegel continued.

The deal was negotiated by ICM Partners along with SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd, and Sejin Croninger, VP Worldwide Acquisitions and Reckziegel for eOne. ICM Partners also represents Brian De Palma. Passion is expected to hit theatres in the US and Canada in early 2013.
