Meet Jared Berenholz, based in Los Angeles.
He oversees development, sales, and production of eOne's live action scripted series in the US and UK.
How did you start your career at eOne?
I came over to eOne in March of 2021 from Netflix, where I was working as Director of Original Series. We were still fully remote at the time, so it was a good six months before I first met any of my coworkers in person.
What’s a typical day at eOne for you?
Every day is different, but there’s always a lot of scripts and books to read, and many meetings with our talent partners on shows we’re developing. I also oversee a few of our Pod Deals [A “Pod Deal” is the deal we make with an outside production company to develop and produce content that is made through our studio], so a lot of my time is coordinating with our producing partners on projects they’re developing. I also pitch shows that we’re trying to sell to buyers at networks and streaming services.
Can you tell us about a project you’re working on?
We’re heading into pre-production on A Gentleman in Moscow for Paramount+ in the UK and Showtime in the US. It’s a fantastic limited series based on the novel by Amor Towles, and we recently announced that Ewan McGregor will be starring in the lead role. So it’s full steam ahead on casting, hiring crew, working on scripts with the incredible team of producers and our showrunner, Ben Vanstone, and everything else that goes along with getting a show up and running.
What’s the best thing about your job?
My favorite thing about the job is the talent I get to work with. When there are frustrating days or stressful situations, it’s helpful to take a step back and remember how cool it is to be working with some of the world-class writers, directors, and producers we get to collaborate with.
